The real-time functionality of Linter will enable you to develop unique software for real-time systems: QNX, SUN Solaris, OS-9, VxWorks, OS/9000, OC 2000.
The scope of using real-time systems is exceptionally broad: from simple controllers to elaborate decision support systems with artificial intelligence features. In such systems, the fault-tolerance requirements to the OS and all software (most importantly, the data storage and processing devices) are very strict.
To process data in a real-time environment, we offer a DBMS that does not require administration, and provides reliability, high performance and the usual interface of a relational DBMS . The latter is especially important, since, unlike many highly specialized products, in Linter the developer has the entire set of development tools.
Linter has what it takes to work in real-time systems:
- possibility to submit queries in the asynchronous mode;
- processing queries according to predefined priorities;
- separating the query translation stage from the execution stage (using pre-translated queries);
- event mechanism that makes it possible to set events in case of which the system will perform certain actions;
- in-memory tables, i.e. the possibility to create a copy (slave) of an existing table (master) and work with it as an independent table;
- customizable DBMS kernel, i.e. possibility to disable the functionality that is not required for a particular task (in order to increase the system's performance).
Linter is used in nuclear reactor control, monitoring and security systems, air traffic management systems, oil-producing industry etc.
Linter-based software is intended for ongoing use 365 days a year in mission-critical applications, especially production and enterprise management systems.

Water supply workshop management system

Since 2004, Linter has been used as a database server in the water supply workshop management system in the water supply workshop of “Fedorovskneft” (part of “Surgutneftegaz”).
The pumping stations are used for pumping water from the Ob river to force out the oil from the oil fields and keep up the formation pressure .
The system manages and controls the technological processes on the pumping stations in all modes, including the startup and stop modes of separate units .
The system is functionally and geographically distributed, multi-level and hierarchical .
According to the representatives of "Surgutneftegaz", the system has helped the personnel to improve the discipline and to react to emergencies quickly .

Air Traffic Management System

Since 1997, one of the departments of the Saint-Petersburg Research Institute of Radio Equipment (VNIIRA), VNIIRA OVD, has been using Linter in air traffic management systems.
The air traffic management system is based on the special version of Linter (DBMS Linter-RV) for the real-time OS 9000. The system has been successfully tested, and is used in the Khabarovsk airport since 2001.
The DBMS has been updated several times since then.
At present, it is used in Khabarovsk, St. Petersburg (Pulkovo airport) and in the international airport in Minsk .

VNIIRA OVD uses Linter in air traffic management systems.
The range of application imposes special requirements on the software used. Thousands of human lives depend on the reliability of our air traffic management system. Therefore database server performance and fault-tolerance are among the main requirements to the DBMS.
The RELEX team has not only provided a reliable database server, but also implemented a unique Linter-based system that guarantees uninterrupted work of the traffic management service.
At present the software system is used in Pulkovo (St. Petersburg), Khabarovsk international airport and Minsk national airport.

In 2001, the specialists of the Kurchatov Institute selected Linter as the database server for implementing nuclear reactor control systems.
When selecting a DBMS for this project, the products of the world's leading software vendors were considered, high performance and fault-tolerance being the main choice criteria .
The specialists of the scientific center have developed control, management, diagnostics and security systems based on Linter (for Sun Solaris SPARC) for nuclear power stations with VVER reactors.
The software is delivered by the Kurchatov Institute in Russia , China and Bulgaria .
